Hoh Rain Forest and Area
It's just over 12 miles from the highway 101 turn-off to the Hoh entrance station. The road runs along the Hoh River, sometimes you can see the river, sometimes it seems as though your in a tree lined tunnel. |
Along the way there are firewood vendors and places to eat - like the Hard Rain Cafe. |
Just outside the park boundry is Peak 6 Outfitters. They have camping supplies, clothes, shoes, |
hats, souvenirs and you get the idea. I found a nice medium weight jacket - just what I'd been looking for but couldn't find in the big box stores, and at a good price. BTC recommends this family owned and operated business to everyone. |
The two entrance sign pictures below were taken 7 years apart. In the picture at left the river is fully visible. At right, the saplings have almost completely hidden the river. Things change over time, a good reason to return. |
Entrance to Campground, Visitor Center and Trails. |
Not far outside the campgroud, a sign that simply says "BIG SPRUCE TREE" leads you to this area. |
