Heart O the Hills Loop A
Heart O the Hills is surrounded by a beautiful old growth forest. Most sites are well shaded, have paved parking areas, fire rings with grates and picnic tables. There are five loops with a total of 105 campsites. Each has a modern restroom with flush toilets. Drinking water hose bibs, trash dumpsters and a single animal proof storage box are located near the restrooms. A NPS volunteer told me that the campground had been originally designed for tent campers, so sites to park an over 30' RV are rare. I watched a one camper tried his best to put his 5th wheel - probably 24 to 26 ft - into a site he had been told would accommodate it. He did get the trailer in but had to park his truck in another site. Lucky for him the campground wasn't full. Many of the sites only have parking pad 22 ft. long. In Loop A the best sites are: 4, 5,6,,14,and 17. |
The pick-up camper (left) in A4. A large parking area even if you can't make the turn and have to back in. |
A5 (right) is a back-in with better than average parking length, and level. |
A6 has less parking area than most pull-thru sites, but still nice. (2 photos at left) |
A17 is a pull-thru with good parking, only con is the picnic table will be on the opposite side from your RV door. (2 photos at right) |
