North Crater Flow is an easy 3/10 mile asphalt paved loop trail. There is parking at the trail or a connector trail to the campground that is also the most recent lava flow from North Crater - about 2,000 years old. It is not well marked, but it is intended to be a one way trail - clockwise - beginning at the south end of the parking lot. You can take a photo tour here, but nothing beats a real walk through the lava field. Don't confuse this trail with North Crater Trail which is a strenuous 3.5 mile round trip. North Crater Trail parking is about 1/4 mile south. |
